In My Kitchen – February 2014

Dear Readers,

In my Kitchen this month is not much. We recently moved into our new apartment and are still, slowly settling in! Being it our house we want to get things right so we are taking our time to think about how we want to furnish and decorate it. There are also so many things happening in Canberra that 4 nights out of 7 we are out..which makes our settling in move even slower! Not particularly enjoying this crazy hot-cold weather, when we are home we eat fresh fruits, drink smoothies and relax! Β So excuse if this post is a little short this month, hopefully by next month we will be back on track! As always , if you want to join in visit Celia’s blog for all details..

In My Kitchen this month are…

The house keys to our new apartment! So exciting!!

Is a new kitchen…..and a mess!!!

A bottle of home-made Baileys …It is so yum!

Was the perfect pavlova..Unfortunately I still have to figure out my new oven so this pavlova was completely incinerated :(

Is the memory of a delicious dinner at The Artisan in Narraubundah, Canberra for our anniversary!

Memory of a lunch at the recently opened dumpling house in the Canberra Centre. We came out with full tummies!

IMG_6692 a lot of gelato! I do miss the real italian one though!

A lot of summery fruits – peaches, plums, watermelon and also starting to see figs!

I am absolutely loving the new Donna Hay cookbook!Β

My two monthly inspiration mags…

These 2 funky cups/glasses. They have some refrigerating liquid in them, so you chuck them in their freezer and ther pour your cold drink (mostly been beer for us) directly into them and it stays cool for ages! I picked them up from woolies!

A new handbag.. I am slightly obsessed….

I realised I still hadn’t shown you my new KA blender – it was a Xmas Pressie but as I had explained we had to wait to pick it up. I absolutely adore it – it makes life sooo much easier!

I picked up this cute looking basket the other day and thought it would be perfect to hold my onions, garlic and potatoes!IMG_0382

Congratulations on the new apartment! Exciting times! Love those frosty cups – we used to have them when the kids were little, but it’s a shame about the pavlova! New ovens need some getting used to, I guess, I’m sure you’ll figure it out soon! And new KitchenAid blender – how cool is that! :)

G’day! Sorry about your pav, but if you don’t succeed, try, try again!
I think all of our kitchens look like that at some time…thanks for sharing and enjoyed this month’s kitchen view!
    Cheers! Joanne

Giulia, best wishes on settling into your new apartment! I think you’re wise to take your time. It’ll come together the way you want it and serve you well. (Bailey’s also helps, ha!) Sorry to hear about your Pavlova — every oven (particularly apartment ovens) seem to have their own personality, but you WILL master this one! Happy Valentine’s Day!
