For as long as I can remember, Saturday mornings have always meant markets. Whether I was going to pick up a roast chicken from the Vedano al Lambro market, or some flowers from the farmer markets in Canberra or some cherries from the Salamanca Markets in Hobart, every Saturday morning I am at a market.
I wonder what it is about markets and Saturday mornings – perhaps there is some study out there claiming that it is the perfect combo to start a weekend? Regardless, there is something oh so satisfying about waking up on Saturday, packing the trolley or the bags into the car and strolling through markets, sipping on freshly squeezed orange juice and munching on some local produce.
I was in Hobart for work recently and decided to stick around for a couple of extra days to visit a few things. The famous Saturday Salamanca Markets was one of them. So Saturday morning I packed my camera, purchased a market bag and set off to explore. I really enjoyed all the local produce, the very friendly marketeers and the general vibe. Below are a few photos from the markets. It’s definitely a must see if you are in Hobart!
